sing me to sleep

i cannot stop listening to chopin. there's this one dexter episode where someone recommends chopin to deb and i felt like they were recommending it to me. its funny because i've been playing mostly beatles songs on the piano lately, i've discovered how much fun singing while playing can be-regardless of the fact that i cannot sing.
dexter is an excellent show. its funny and creepy and always has good surprises and twists. i love dexter's inner dialogue. sometimes dexter's character reminds me of pork, i think he would really like the show. also, i remember at one point thinking that pork could totally be a serial killer. he looks like brian kennedy did in high school though, which is ridiculous.
all i have been doing lately is watching netflix on the computer, with headphones on, at my parents house. last night, saturday night, my mom kept giving me crap about being at home. "what are you friends doing? what is sara doing? you used to go out. what's wrong with you?" which all sounded more like accusations then questions. but i can say this, i'm not as tired anymore.
today sara and i ate brunch at marie calenders. because we are old ladies in young-ish bodies. it was a champagne brunch and sara drank all the champagne. then we went to savers and i browsed through the trashy lingerie. who buys that there? we went to my most favorite in the world shake place. for dinner alec, hayley, me, my parents went to rick and di's. we had steak. i love steak. we hadn't had it in so long. realizing that was like the 97th time this week i noticed the 'recession' affecting my family. after dinner hayley alec and i climbed up into the tree house and watched idiocracy. the wind was blowing like crazy it felt amazing. it sounded amazing, the leaves, the creaking of the wood. i slid down the pole to get down. i slid down slowly. it took me two minutes with alec talking shit to me the entire time.

on the way home we were doing impressions of people we know singing karaoke. it reminded me of the time in palm springs when my parents sang a duet. everyone was clapping and yelling and apparently really surprised by the fact that my mom can sing and kept saying how good she was. i turned to shane, really really really high, and asked him "is mom a good singer.... or? or what?" and he looked at me and could barely spit out "i have no idea" before his eyes filled up with tears and he started crying he was laughing so hard. which made me think of a few years ago at palm springs when my mom sang a song and she was horrible. she was singing too high. me and my cousins and pork were sitting in the jacuzzi and pork said "is that your mom singing?! why is she singing like that?! what is she doing?!" and we couldn't stop laughing.

couldn't stop laughing is such a funny saying. to never stop laughing.hahahahah.

and that made me think of austin singing that ridiculous leonard cohen song at the fifth bar we went to in one night where i was drunk and kept asking him to stop. and when all the girl cousins and i sang a spice girls song when we were about 11-16 with the lyrics "slam your body down and wind it all around" in front of our fathers. and when erin's old boyfriend sang 'on bended knee' in front of the entire family and made her sit in a chair on stage and he actually got on bended knee. and when james and kyle and sean got wasted and butchered bohemian rhapsody. and when kathy tonan screamed while singing some beatles song which did include a scream but it totally could have been omitted in that instance. and when rick was standing right in front of people singing and didnt realize it. and when billy was singing janis joplin.and when james and i were lying across the street from the hotel two years ago on shrooms and could hear his dad mike singing lets get it on in the sexiest voice imaginable. and james singing mrs jones this past year and jon singing tupac and my dad singing the doors and johnny cash and frank sinatra. and when he sings 'take a walk on the wild side' he makes me mom be the colored girls going 'doo do doo do doo" and jay telling me that mike and i ruined 'do re mi' from sound of music because we wouldn't stop screaming it on the way home from yardhouse.

karaoke is ridiculous. dancing is ridiculous. people are ridiculous. its so cool.

also, i have an official schedule now. monday - thursday 7:30 to 5 with a THREE DAY WEEKEND EVERY WEEKEND. i'm very happy.
