isn't it always the first day of the rest of your life? people reserve that phrase for monumental days, when the truth is, the day you woke up and fed your dog and checked your e-mail and stubbed your toe on the corner of the counter, that's the first day of the rest of your life, too.
what if people told you "this is the last day of the rest of your life." there are days where that would be more okay, more easy to accept, than "this is the first day of the rest of your life."
i think everything is tricky.
especially people. it can take so long to really know and understand yourself, and yet you begin sharing yourself usually before any of it has been figured out. but for some reason, even when you don't know your own head completely just yet, you assume the person you are sharing with knows theirs.
my brother bought a chameleon today, it changes colors depending on how it feels. i wish people did that.
